DESCRIPTION:Snana Purnima is one of the most significant festivals celebrated at the Jagannath Cultural Academy and Research Centre (JCARC)\, Adalaj. Held on the full moon day of the Jyestha month\, this divine event features the ‘Snana Yatra’\, where the deities of Lord Jagannath\, Balabhadra\, and Subhadra are brought out from the sanctum and bathed with 108 pitchers of sacred water drawn from a special well within the temple premises. \nFollowing the sacred bath\, the deities are dressed in the Gajanana Bhesa—a rare and auspicious attire in which Lord Jagannath appears in the form of Lord Ganesha. Devotees gather in large numbers to witness this mesmerizing form\, offer prayers\, and experience divine blessings. \nThis event marks the beginning of the Lord’s “Anasara” period\, where the deities retire from public view to recover from the elaborate bath. JCARC recreates this tradition with authenticity and devotion\, keeping alive the rich heritage of Jagannath culture.
